How to respond to the draft Neighbourhood Plan

public consultation

This is the first of 2 public consultations on the text of the draft Neighbourhood Plan for our area. It’s relatively informal - compared to the second one, which will be undertaken later in the year by Calderdale Council. It gives every citizen of the area, and organisations, businesses and landowners a chance to react and respond to the draft Plan’s proposals. To suggest issues or proposals that you think should be added to the Plan. And to tell us whether it meets your aspirations for the area over the next 15 years. The Neighbourhood Plan committee is looking forward to your contributions!

To start off with: read section 1 of the draft Plan which tells you what a neighbourhood plan is, and then the Headlines leaflet summarising its main features. Then maybe look at each section, or those that particularly interest you.  When you’ve read as much as you want please give us your views in the ‘survey monkey’ questionnaires we provided. There’s no hurry; you have until Wednesday 7th April.

Associated documents:  Key Sites & Areas of Interest policy statements -  Mytholmroyd Masterplan (2018), and 2nd stage public realm study - Biodiversity & Ecology AssessmentApproach to parking policy (2017) -  Parish Specific issues and policies (Please note: not every single one of the documents that will eventually accompany the NP is available for this consultation).

Give us your views!

Quick questionnaire - if you only want to comment on the main features of the draft Plan, and not spend too much time.

Detailed Questionnaire - if you want to provide detailed comments on each individual section of the Plan and its policies.

You can complete both questionnaires if you wish. If you want to write a separate submission - covering an issue that particularly interests you, or if you are the owner of a specific site affected by the plan - please do and send it here. In your document clearly identify the section, policies or paragraphs you want to comment on.

What happens to your comments?

All the views submitted will be considered by the neighbourhood plan committee drawn from the 5 constituent councils. The draft Plan will then be appropriately revised as part of the next stage (‘Regulation 15’) before the draft Plan is finally submitted to Calderdale Council, who will take forward the next stages: a ‘Regulation 16’ second formal public consultation; the appointment of an independent inspector; arrangement of a referendum - before (it is hoped) the neighbourhood plan is adopted sometime towards the end of 2021.
